Jet is an e-commerce company that adjusts prices in real-time based on what users purchase. The more stuff a user buys, the cheaper it is for Jet to ship that stuff, and Jet carries those savings over to its customers. While this sounds complicated, Jet's onboarding flow manages to quickly educate users on their unique pricing model and engages them in an exciting price-drop hunt.
Why this is really good UX:
- When users add their first item to the cart, they get a message below their item that explains how to make prices drop: just for items with the arrow pointing down!
- When users click on the “learn more” button, they learn how the pricing model works.
- The message comes in a text bubble delivered by the company's president, which not only adds a personal touch but also makes the user feel important.
- When users add items marked with the price-drop arrow into their cart, they see the numbers roll back before their eyes and see a banner announcing the price-drop over the discounted items.
